On February 6, 2023, at 04:17 and 13:24 UTC+3, two earthquakes with magnitudes of Mw7.7 and Mw7.6 struck Pazarcık and Elbistan districts of Kahramanmaraş, respectively.
Opening of Suna Polat Youth Center and Construction of the Sports Field
After the acute phase of the earthquake, the Polat Foundation continued its commitment to supporting the affected communities by initiating a new social support-focused project. In November 2023, in collaboration with the Samandağ Municipality, the foundation proudly inaugurated the Suna Polat Youth Center in the Samandağ district of Hatay.
The opening ceremony of the Suna Polat Youth Center took place on Saturday, November, at Atatürk Coastal Park. The event was attended by the Polat Foundation Chairman Adnan Polat, Galatasaray President, Deputy Chairman, Deputy Governor, Samandağ Mayor, AFAD Hayat Provincial Disaster and Emergencey Manager and Samandağ Coordinator District Governor, along with thousands of residents.
Suna Polat Youth Center is a community hub with a capacity of 350 people, designed to foster social interactions among local residents and offer opportunities for leisure and recreation. This social facility features a lounge area, a café, and a spacious seaside location. Additionally, it supports sports activities with a professional basketball and volleyball court, providing a dynamic space for the community to connect and thrive.
